Eric Paslay is no stranger to Number One hits, but his latest, “Friday Night,” is his first as both singer and songwriter. Eric celebrated the chart-topper with a part at the Country Music Association in Nashville yesterday (Monday, February 24th).
He tells us that despite his success as a songwriter, to have success as an artist has really always been the dream, so this Number One hit is sweeter. [“It’s definitely a deeper journey of getting to this one just cause I moved to Nashville to sing, even though most people knew me as the guy that wrote songs and now he wants to sing, you know, cause that’s the story. That’s what’s written on paper, but it’s not why I came here. I didn’t just come here to write songs. I came here to write songs and to sing and I’m pretty dang lucky that I’m getting to do both. That’s wild! And to have success as a writer in any town is just crazy. All the other Number Ones are very special to me and especially this one but it’s just a longer journey to get to this one.”] SOUNDCUE (:40 OC: . . . to this one.)
Eric’s new single is called “Song About A Girl.”
His self-titled debut album was released earlier this month.
