A law enforcement officer was honored by the village of Carey Monday night. The Courier reports Patrolman Sutton Flick was given the village’s medal of honor for resolving an armed shooter situation just outside Carey last November.
Flick was the first on the scene at the Carey Conservation Club when Richard Clark shot and killed two people. Flick had his weapon drawn as Clark left the building. Flick was able to get Clark to throw his gun down. Clark is now serving two life sentences.
Flick has also received the officer of the year award from Owens Community College. He finished second for the Fraternal Order of Police state award.
