United Way Receives Grant From Toledo for Refrigerated Truck

7/14/14 10:47 a.m. The United Way of Hancock County’s Halt Hunger Initiative received a big boost today. The Toledo Community Foundation approved a grant from the Promedica Advisory Fund for $28,890 to help Hancock County’s United Way buy a 16-foot refrigerated truck. United Way program/grants coordinator Heather Heilman said the need for the truck comes from experience. Heilman said there have been opportunities where food is available but the United Way hasn’t been able to transport it in a timely manner. The truck will be available to community organizations assisting in feeding the community’s hungry. The total cost of the truck will be $62,482 with the remainder coming from a grant from the Marathon Classic Golf Tournament and Halt Hunger Initiative funds.
