Sam Hunt‘s new single, “Kinfolks,” means more to him than just blood relatives. He tells us it includes a larger group of people and even things. Sam explains: “When I think of kinfolks, when I think of that phrase, I think of my family but also I think about just my people back home, even beyond my family — just buddies and people who’ve been a part of my story from the beginning and that core group is still that core group and will always be, but, yeah, for me it’s my hometown, it’s my grandmother, it’s all my cousins and it’s images, too. It’s basketball goals, the houses, the cars. Some of those looks just are nostalgic, so it’s just home, really for the most part.”
“Kinfolks” is the followup to Sam’s 2018 single, “Downtown’s Dead.” It will likely be included on his next album project.
