Sam Hunt Makes Surprise Appearance At CMA Fest, Talks Upcoming Album

Sam Hunt was a surprise performer during Saturday (June 9th) night’s CMA Fest lineup at Nissan Stadium. The singer included his new single, “Downtown’s Dead,” which he delivered while strolling through the massive crowd.

We spoke to Sam before he hit the stage, where he told us that a new album is still in the distance. [“I keep saying that I’m gonna carve out time to get home and really devote my time and energy to creating an album but I feel like I’m just sort of just getting by by the skin of my teeth the past couple years so I’m just scraping up bits and pieces of songs that I got started and trying to put those out as I go and continue to tour but I do think, even though I said this last year, the end of the summer/fall I think I’m gonna be able to hopefully sink my teeth into a project and have some new music ready to go before too long after that. I’ve had trouble getting back into the writing flow over the past few years of being on the road with my artist hat on. They’re just two different worlds to me and I’m hoping I can tap back into it here soon but I’m trying (laughs).”] SOUNDCUE (:49 OC: . . . but I’m trying (laughs).)

Sam is part of Luke Bryan‘s What Makes You Country XL stadium shows this summer. They play on Saturday (June 16th) at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, OH.
