Drug Task Force Seizes Suspected Fentanyl During Search Warrant

On February 12, 2026, the Seneca County Drug Task Force – METRICH Enforcement Unit, with support from the Fostoria Police Department, executed a drug-related search warrant at 1110 N. Main Street in Fostoria, the residence of Matthew Bernal, 34.
The warrant, authorized by Judge Rhonda Best of the Fostoria Municipal Court, resulted in the seizure of criminal tools and a significant quantity of suspected fentanyl.
Mr. Bernal is expected to face multiple first-degree felony charges for Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs involving a fentanyl-related compound upon completion of the investigation.
“The Fostoria Police Department and the Seneca County Drug Task Force remain committed to enforcing drug laws and protecting our community, regardless of the number of ongoing investigations,” said Chief Gabe Wedge of the Fostoria Police Department.
