Findlay Police Department K9 Deke Retiring

K9 Deke of the Findlay Police Department will be retiring in the spring.

Over the years, Deke, who is 9 years old, has helped the police department apprehend numerous suspects.

In addition to chasing the bad guys, Deke participated in many demonstrations over the years at events like Night Out and Camp 911.

Findlay City Council has approved the purchase of a new dual-purpose K9 to replace Deke.

Dual purpose means narcotics, tracking, and suspect apprehension.

Training of the new K9 will begin in March and be completed in May.

A new K9-equipped patrol vehicle was purchased in 2025.
