Mark Nelson Chesnutt (born September 6, 1963) is an American country music singer and songwriter. Between 1990 and 1999, he had his greatest chart successcountry music texas Sticker by George Strait recording for Universal Music Group Nashville‘s MCA and Decca branches, with a total of eight albums between those two labels. During this timespan, Chesnutt also charted twenty top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, of which eight reached number one: “Brother Jukebox“, “I’ll Think of Something“, “It Sure Is Monday“, “Almost Goodbye“, “I Just Wanted You to Know“, “Gonna Get a Life“, “It’s a Little Too Late“, and a cover of Aerosmith‘s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing“. His first three albums for MCA (Too Cold at HomeLongnecks & Short Stories, and Almost Goodbye) along with a 1996 Greatest Hits package issued on Decca are all certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA); 1994’s What a Way to Live, also issued on Decca, is certified gold. After a self-titled album in 2002 on Columbia Records, Chesnutt has continued to record predominantly on independent labels.

Beckham auditioned for the nineteenth season of the singing reality show American Idol in Los Angeles, California. After surviving Hollywood Week and making it into the Top 5, Beckham received the most votes to win, and on May 23, 2021, he was crowned the winner of the nineteenth season of American Idol, beating runner-up Willie Spence.

On American Idol, he performed “23“, which he wrote a year prior, and the song reached No. 1 on the iTunes chart after he performed the song. The song was released as his single. The song made him the first Idol winner to do so with an original song.

With their 40th anniversary at hand in 2013, legendary country band Alabamaalabama old flame GIF embarked on their first tour in more than a decade and released an officially endorsed tribute album titled “Alabama and Friends.” The album features current country stars covering some of Alabama’s country-rock classics — including Kenny Chesney on “Lady Down on Love,” Jason Aldean on “Tennessee River,” Luke Bryan on “Love in the First Degree,” and the Eli Young Band on “The Closer You Get” — along with two new Alabama songs. It was a fitting tribute for the most successful band in country music history,  which logged 34 singles that topped Billboard’s country singles chart between 1980 and 2011 and has sold more than 75 million albums.
