Outlaw Music Festival Background
Spearheaded by no less iconic a figure than
Willie Nelson,
the Outlaw Music Festival started out in 2016 and turned into an annual shape-shifting celebration of roots-based music’s many forms. Dipping into rock, country, folk, blues and bluegrass, the festival has included Alison Krauss, Old Crow Medicine Show, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sturgill Simpson, Van Morrison, Brandi Carlile, Sheryl Crow, Phil Lesh
Bob Dylan and Friends, Robert Plant & The Sensational Shape Shifters, Bonnie Raitt, Counting Crows and plenty more. The Outlaw Village that’s a part of each event date gives fans a chance to enjoy local foods and crafts and to commune with fellow music lovers while they’re not busy being bowled over by what’s happening onstage. Not every artist at The Outlaw Music Festival is American, but they’re all profoundly influenced by the many strands of music that make up the Americana tapestry.

Drew Baldridge was born in Patoka, Illinois on July 29, 1991. He began performing in local talent contests as a teenager, and moved to Nashville, Tennessee at age 18 to pursue a career in country music. Baldridge released a pair of extended plays digitally between 2014 and 2015. Later on, he released the single “Dance with Ya”, which was officially sent to radio and became his first chart entry on Country Airplay.
In 2019, Baldridge’s label Cold River closed. As a result, he founded his own label called Lyric Ridge in 2020. His first Lyric Ridge release, “She’s Somebody’s Daughter“, was a song he had originally cut on Cold River. Between 2023 and 2024, the song became a viral hit, and went on to become Baldridge’s first top-40 hit on the Billboard country charts.

Jelly Roll went from selling mixtapes from his car to country music superstardom. After quietly releasing dozens of independent albums — some of them rap mixtapes, with features from Lil Wyte and Tech N9ne — the genre-defying artist scored his first Billboard Hot 100 hit in 2022 with the country-rock crossover single “Son of a Sinner,” from his major-label debut album Ballads of the Broken. The rapper-turned-country star from Nashville, Tennessee, blends hip-hop stylings with country vocals on ballads like 2020’s “Save Me” and cathartic anthems like 2023’s “NEED A FAVOR,” off his country music debut WHITSITTCHAPEL.

As the winner NBC’s All-Star season of The Celebrity Apprentice in 2013, country artist Trace Adkins proved that his business acumen was as sharp as his songwriting skills. Shortly after winning the competition, Adkins released his first Christmas album The King’s Gift and hit the road with The Christmas Show tour, a full-out theatrical production featuring a 12-piece band and a Celtic vocal ensemble. Raised in Louisiana, Trace Adkins moved to Nashville in the early ’90s, making his debut in 1996 with Top 20 country hit “There’s a Girl In Texas.” Adkins would release a series of successful albums in the 2000’s, including the chart-topping Songs About Me in 2005 and Dangerous Man in 2006. He has recorded with such luminaries as Ronnie Milsap and Blake Shelton, and in 2009 he shared the stage with Martina McBride during their co-headlining Shine All Night tour, which generated millions in ticket sales. In live concert, Adkins showcases his raucous personality, Southern charm, and signature baritone twang, making him a favorite with country fans of all ages.
