‘Rust’ Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Sentenced To 18 Months In Prison

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer involved in the accidental shooting on the set of Rust that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter. The shooting occurred when actor/producer Alec Baldwin handled a gun that accidentally fired. During the trial, Gutierrez-Reed’s defense claimed she was unfairly targeted, while the prosecution argued that she had failed to follow safety protocols. Baldwin is expected to go on trial for involuntary manslaughter in July. Despite these events, Rust has resumed production and a documentary on Hutchins is in the works.
