Community Experiencing Rash Of Catalytic Converter Thefts

(ONN) – There is a new warning for residents of Bowling Green after a rash of thefts of a specific car part in recent days.

Police say eight thefts were reported between May 22nd and the 26th, with Hondas making up most of the targeted vehicles.

Maurice Austin says he discovered the catalytic converter had been cut off of his Honda Element while it was parked at Cedar Park Apartments.

Police say three thefts were reported there and two more at The Edge Apartments.

Investigators say older Hondas and Toyotas are often targeted because their catalytic converters contain valuable precious metals that can be sold for cash.
