History Of The Findlay Airport The Topic Of Next Museum Lecture

(From the Hancock Historical Museum)

Get ready for an exciting lunchtime adventure! The Hancock Historical Museum invites the community to its upcoming Brown Bag Lecture this Thursday, April 2nd, at 12:00 PM. This month’s presentation, titled “A Planes-Eye View: How the Findlay Airport Went from Private to Public,” promises to be an engaging and insightful look at the fascinating transformation of the Findlay Airport (KFDY).

The lecture will be led by Anne Stoner (of Marathon Petroleum Company) and Kyle Penzinski (of the City of Findlay: Airport), two professionals with unique perspectives on the airport’s history and impact. Stoner, with an impressive 42 years in Marathon Petroleum’s Aviation Division, oversees executive air travel for the company’s aircraft, bringing decades of expertise in aviation logistics. Penzinski, a proud Ohio native and dual-degree holder, combines professionalism with humor in his work at the airport. Their combined passion for the community and aviation will shine through as they share the incredible story of how the Findlay Airport transitioned from private ownership to becoming a public asset that has enriched the local community in countless ways, as well as how it plays a vital role in the region’s development.

Abigail Inbody, Executive Director of the Hancock Historical Museum, expressed her excitement about the event: “I am incredibly grateful for this educational collaboration between the museum, Marathon Petroleum Company, and the City of Findlay. The airport has a fascinating story, and we are excited to share it with the community this week!”

The Hancock Historical Museum is proud to serve as a community hub for the America 250 celebrations, honoring 250 years of our nation’s history. The 2026 Brown Bag Lecture series lineup is inspired by the celebration themes set forth by the State of Ohio America 250 Commission, connecting local history to the larger national story. The theme for April is Ohio Moves: Transportation.

The lecture will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour, with ample time for questions and discussion. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lunches to enjoy during the program. Admission is free for museum members and $3 for non-members.

This event is perfect for history buffs, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone curious about how a local airport became a vital part of the Findlay community. Bring your lunch, invite your friends, and join us for this incredible event! Doors open at 11:30 am, and seating is limited—arrive early to secure your spot.
