Section Of Street Permanently Closed To Public Vehicle Traffic
Findlay City Council approved an ordinance designating South Cory Street between West Main Cross Street and West Crawford Street as a restricted access corridor for emergency vehicles, government operations, deliveries, and other necessary services of the city and county buildings in that area.
That section of road was closed to public vehicle traffic in June of last year.
The bike lane has remained open during the decision process and will remain open going forward.
The east/west alley behind the post office between South West Street and South Cory Street is also being closed to public access. The post office mailboxes will be relocated in the area so they are still accessible.
The city said this move was made for the safety of pedestrians and employees, with the new Allan H. Davis Judicial Center building, police department, sheriff’s office, municipal building, and courthouse all in close proximity, and police and sheriff vehicles coming and going.
You can see a graphic below that shows where the relocated mailboxes will be, and read the full ordinance, and watch the April 21 city council meeting.
