Sheriff’s Office Warns Of Scam

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is warning people about a traffic violation scam.

The sheriff’s office says people are receiving the photo below via text message.

The message claims you have unpaid violations for toll evasion, a parking violation, and a speeding violation.

The scammer says you must pay the fines immediately by scanning the QR code with the message or face late fees and be referred to collections, among other things.

The sheriff’s office says this is a scam and to not click on any links or respond in any way.
