Darius Rucker Eyes Retirement In Two Years With One Final Hootie Tour
Darius Rucker has revealed plans to retire within two years, saying he wants to go out with a major farewell.
The 60-year-old singer opened up on the Dan Patrick Show, noting the toll of a grueling schedule. “I played 110 shows last year… what am I doing?” he joked. Rucker said he has grown to appreciate time at home. “I’m retiring in two years… I might. I’ve been really looking at it.”
Before stepping away, he hopes to mount one final run with his band. “I’m looking at maybe doing a tour — one more big Hootie thing, and calling it.” Rucker also revealed his ideal final show location. “We have to finish at Williams-Brice Stadium,” he said, referencing the Columbia, South Carolina venue.
