Committee Created To Examine Data Center Concerns Meets For First Time

(ONN) – The first meeting of the new Ohio Joint Data Center Committee was held at the Ohio Statehouse.

The new bipartisan committee will dig into the real impact these massive projects could have on communities.

People living near proposed sites have been raising concerns about everything from higher electric bills, to water use, noise, and whether these projects are really bringing enough jobs to the area.

Lawmakers say they want facts before moving forward with any major decisions or new state policies.

The committee could also shape the future of several proposed bills — and even a possible statewide ballot issue targeting large data centers.

In April, Findlay City Council approved an ordinance imposing a 12-month moratorium on data centers within city limits.
