FHCPL Holding Celebration To Kick Off SummerREAD Program

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is celebrating the beginning of SummerREAD with the following programs the first week of June:
The SummerREAD Kick Off celebration begins Monday, June 1 at 10 a.m. Join us for the official start of summer reading! The library will host a day jam-packed with activities for all ages to celebrate the SummerREAD 2026 theme: Unearth a Story. Visit us between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. or between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. for a variety of crafts, activities, and more fun. Special guests will include Awakening Minds Art, the Children’s Museum of Findlay, Findlay City Parks and Recreation, Hancock County Farmers’ Market, Hancock Park District, and the University of Findlay.
We’re also celebrating SummerREAD with a series of Bookmobile parties! The Extension and Outreach team will host special events during Bookmobile stops June 1–4 at the following locations:
· June 1 at 2:30 p.m. – Arcadia
· June 1 at 5:00 p.m. – Van Buren
· June 2 at 2:30 p.m. – Vanlue
· June 2 at 5:00 p.m. – Mt. Blanchard
· June 3 at 2:30 p.m. – Mt. Cory
· June 3 at 5:00 p.m. – Benton Ridge
· June 4 at 2:30 p.m. – Jenera
· June 4 at 5:00 p.m. – Rawson
Each party will feature snacks, games, crafts, and other fun activities for all ages. The Bookmobile will also be fully stocked with books, movies, and music available to check out.

Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room, Miss Nicole presents Storytime. This week, we will sing, rhyme, read, and craft while enjoying a Dino-mite Storytime together!
Join us Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Lindamood Room for art, science, and engineering projects in our makerspace for kids! Children 8 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Join us every Tuesday at 2 p.m. this summer and check the website calendar for fun themes each week at findlaylibrary.org/events. This week’s theme is LEGO & more!
Mini Meet-Up is scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. in the Children’s Programming Room in the Children’s Department. Little ones can explore new games, toys and activities that are educational and fun while socializing and making new friends.
Starter Storytime will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday in the Lindamood Room. We will be joined by special guests from Blanchard Valley Center and YWCA on Friday. Miss Nicole will lead families in singing, rhyming, reading and having fun with scarves and bells. This program’s content is geared to children ages birth – 36 months with a caregiver. Older siblings are welcome, too. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child/children for this program.
Storytime at Arlington is scheduled for Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at our Arlington Branch. Children can hear great stories, do crafts and fun activities. This week, the theme is Dino-Mite Storytime!
Grab your lunch and your sense of adventure; this month, Passport Picnic is headed to India! Meet us in the Lindamood Room on Wednesday at 12 p.m. for a midday journey that brings the world to your table. Each session highlights a different country’s culture, traditions, cuisine, and everyday life, no passport required!
A virtual author talk is scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Smithsonian Curator, Mary Savig. She will be talking to us virtually about the book, State Fairs, Growing American Craft. The Writer’s Support Group is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Coffee Amici, 328 South Main Street. Writers can join us and bring their work-in-progress or start fresh with one of our prompts, and spend time with other writers.
Settle in for a book discussion at 50 North on Thursday at 10 a.m. This month, we’re exploring Lisa Genova’s Inside the O’Briens. Copies of the book are available at the Information Services Department. Ebook and
audiobook copies are available on Libby. If you’re new to Libby, we’ll be happy to introduce you to this convenient app.
